The film is just so rushed that it ends up negating much of what works so well about the movie to begin with. In this respect, Alita: Battle Angel isn’t a bad movie. Consequently, the climax of the film has no emotional weight whatsoever. This is probably a result of the many compromises that were made to get James Cameron’s original 600-page script down to a feasible shooting length. Moreover, the last twenty minutes of the story are so concerned with setting up sequels that the film forgets to finish the story it’s telling at the moment. It’s not that the ending is terrible it’s just that it is filled with would-be emotional beats that ultimately don’t resonate. ![]()
